Sport for Life’s Physical Literacy Movement Preparation Coach

Designed in partnership with Canada Soccer, this online and in-person course shows that warm-ups go beyond simply increasing body temperature. Movement preparation not only prepares the body for movement, it also improves the way you move by using physical literacy principles. This reduces the risk of injury during physical activity and teaches skills necessary for performance often neglected during regular training.

Becoming familiar with the movement preparation program specific to soccer allows you to transfer much of it to all running-based sports. It includes five distinct components and incorporates explanations regarding the proper execution and progression of each exercise in order to increase athlete durability and performance.

At the completion of this training, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the concept of movement preparation, the benefits, and how it differs from a standard “warm up”
  • Identify common sport injury risks that can be reduced through movement preparation and recognize how it can improve sport performance and durability
  • Know how to observe and correct basic running form and
  • Describe key concepts that must be integrated into sport and recreation programs to create quality environments for the development of physical literacy
